Help setting up your eVisa

Did your Biometric Resident Permit (BRP) expire on the 31 December 2024?

The Home Office is replacing physical immigration documents with a digital proof of immigration status, called an eVisa. This is for people already living in the UK, and for new visa applicants too.

You will need to create an eVisa account to replace your physical document or card proving your immigration status.

We are here to help

We provide free, independent and confidential advice on the following:

  • Creating an eVisa account

  • Ensuring you can access your status

  • Learn how to generate a share code to prove your status

THE FACTS

  • As part of the move to a digital immigration system, the Home Office stopped issuing new BRPs on 31 October 2024

  • Updating from a physical document to an eVisa does not affect a customer's immigration status or the conditions of a customer's permission to enter or stay in the UK

  • In England, Biometric Residence Permits (BRP) and Biometric Residence Cards (BRC) can no longer be accepted as evidence of a person's rights in the UK, such as a right to work or rent

  • Most people who are granted an immigration status now receive access to an eVisa instead of a physical immigration document.

  • The Home Office has commissioned Citizens Advice Liverpool to help our most vulnerable citizens transition to eVisa. Our trained staff are specialists on the topic of immigration and eVisas and are ready and waiting to help you find a way forward.

The 3 million charity and Migrants Organise have created an eVisa bust card, designed to be printed off and carried on your person. The card details your rights, should you ever be questioned by authorities - and the second side gives details of proving your rights and where to go for help should you need it.
