New Employment Advice Project for Liverpool
CAL will be delivering a 6-month COVID-19 response project to address the lack of free employment advice and skills across the Liverpool City Region. The purpose of the project will be to reach people in need of employment advice and build capacity for employment advice by up-skilling volunteers within Citizens Advice Liverpool and our partners.
After the first lockdown in March, we saw a 175% increase in employment advice queries over a 2 week period. We continue to see a high number of employment advice queries and this project will prepare our advisers to be prepared should we see another increase in enquiries when the present lockdown restrictions are lifted.
Our new Employment Caseworker/Coordinator, Janet Henshaw and Employment Trainer, Fiona Davies will be joining us this month and will work closely with our Employment Specialist Volunteer Francoise Murray.
We will be prioritising training and support to all our advisers on employment enquiries both for answering basic enquiries during the clients first point of contact and upskilling to deal with more complex enquiries.
