Alan Malthouse
Trustee
Before retirement, I used to work within the Worldwide Logistics marketplace and the Supply Chain Management sector. Part of this work involved travelling throughout Europe negotiating on sales and protocol agency agreements. I also spent some time as a Ship’s Officer around West Africa. I decided to volunteer with the former Citizens Advice office in Anfield after being made redundant. I was amazed at the care and knowledge of staff who helped the local community with a myriad of problems. The job satisfaction was excellent. I subsequently returned to full time employment within the Logistics industry but I was still keen to remain connected to the Charity. It was suggested to me that I became a Trustee. I hope that my life experiences, and thirteen years as a Trustee, can assist in some small way to shape policies at Citizens Advice Liverpool. I am so proud of the manner in which our staff have overcome the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic – they have maintained a first class service at a very trying time. As well as working with Citizens Advice Liverpool, I am also involved with my local Church, St. John the Evangelist, Knotty Ash. I have been a volunteer at Alder Hey children’s hospital and the Support Through Court Charity (formerly the Personal Support Unit) based at Liverpool Civil and Family Court. I am an avid cricket fan and once enjoyed a cricket career at Whitefield, Prescot and Rainhill Cricket Clubs. I also support Lancashire Cricket Club and Liverpool Football Club. I am married to Jean and we have two children and five grandchildren.
